WHAT IS AN INDEPENDENT SURVEYOR & VALUER?

An Independent Chartered Surveyor as a qualified member of the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors, whose firm is not owned by a corporate organisation such as a Bank, Building Society or Insurance Company.

The survey and valuation reports obtained through mortgage lenders, will normally be carried out by an in-house staff valuer, or by an associated 'panel valuer' with whom the lender has reciprocal arrangements.

Being completely impartial, an Independent Chartered Surveyor will give an unbiased report, tailored to the specific needs of the buyer, not being influenced by any external considerations.
